AFCAT 2016 Selection Process and Exam Pattern
IAF (Indian Air Force) conducts written examination in the first phase for officers selection. Selection process is done as:
Stage-I: Written Examination
Stage-II: Document Verification
Stage-III: Interview
Stage-I: Entrance Exam
Exam pattern is below:
-written test
-Time duration: 2 hours
-Multiple choice questions (MCQs)
-Total no. of questions: 100
-Total marks: 300 (each question has 3 marks)
-Negative marking is applied (1 mark for every wrong answer)

-Numerical Ability
-Reasoning
-General Awareness
-Aptitude
Stage-II
Those candidates, who will clear stage-I, they will be selected for stage-II, which is document verification.
Stage-III
Those candidates, who will pass in stage-II verification process, they will be liable for stage-III. Stage-III is final round, which includes Psychological Test, Group Test and Interview.
Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT)
PABT test is only for Flying branch applicants.

General Awareness – History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc.
Verbal Ability in English – Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary.
Numerical Ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest.
Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test – Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.
